Hi,

Many thanks, I really appreciate the attachments, I will look at them tomorrow when I get to school. One last thing you may be able to help me with, have you ever used ProEngineer, and if yes, do you rate it ... im looking to use it for As level.

I will contact Andrew about the 1st July,

Thanks again,

James

Hi James,

I have attached some 2D examples of bases and shades. These are developing each time we run the module, such that rather stitch the shades together the current group are investigating the possibility of interlocking clips cut into the polypropylene.  We use two pieces of polypropylene, an opaque white as a inner layer, then a pastel colour for the outer with the shapes cut into it so that the light bulb is not visible.

The base is hopefully self explanatory, the pupils draw in black first, then use the contour tool set at 0.00mm and custom Red to set the cutting lines – this shows up any problems ie gaps etc.

We are running a course on this project for Andrew here at Highworth  on the 1st July so you may find it useful to come on it – I think Andrew has emailed all DT depts. Recently about the course.

Hope I have been of help.

Cheers

Paul Tate.

Hi Paul,

I met with Andrew Shears last week and he showed me your polyprop lamps that you produce on 2d design. I run the product design course at Simon Langton Girls School in Canterbury.

Could you possibly pass on to me any details of your project so I could trial a similar type project next year ... Andrew showed me the basics but do you have any handouts etc that I could view?

Many thanks, I know its a bit cheeky but i really loved the look of the project!

Many thanks,

James Brady
